Turning Stone Resort and Casino will be hosting TV chef Martin Yan on Saturday, July 15 as part of the casino resort Celebrity Chef Series. The Asian food expert will be demonstrating Asian cooking at the Oneida Indian Nation Casino Showroom on 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm. After his show, he will answer audience questions about Asian culinary. Tickets prices are 25 dollars and are on sale.
China native, Martin Yan is a TV cooking shows host, culinary teacher, an author of cooking books, a certified master Chef and a restaurant consultant. He started his cooking career at the age of 13. After a period of apprenticeship in a distinguished Hong Kong restaurant, he went to study at the Overseas Institute of Cookery in Hong Kong. After earning his diploma Yen went to Canada, and then to the States.
In 1978, during his studies on a master degree in food science at UCLA, Yan began hosting his first TV cooking show named Yan Can Cook. Since then, he had hosted more than 2,000 television cooking shows. Yen became a guest chef-instructor in North America, a teacher in California Culinary Academy, Johnson and Wales University, The Culinary Institute of America, and the University of San Francisco.
