On March 5th, the first Become a Poker Pro tournament organized by PokerRoom.com took place on board of the cruise ship Majesty of the Seas. Several months ago PokerRom.com hosted a free-roll tournament for the best players of the site, and players who won 10 top positions at this free-roll met on board of Majesty of the Seas to compete for the main prize.
The main prize of Become a Poker Pro tournament is not quite usual. Only a small part of the prize is paid in cash to recover the expenses of the participants. The major part of the prize is a twelve-month poker player sponsorship package that includes free entrances to twelve major poker tournaments, including WSOP main event and various WPT and EPT events. After seven hours of intense play Become a Poker Pro tournament was won by Jim Davenport, an investment analyst from Corona Del Mar, California.
