The Sparks City Council intends to develop a plan that would restrict the new casino buildings to certain areas. In addition, it plans to change the city code definition.
According to the plan, non-restricted gaming would be restricted to tourist commercial districts beside the Interstate 80 corridor, Truckee River and redevelopment areas.
The plan also includes a city code change that would amend the requirements of non restricted gaming to resort hotel. This definition under state law demands a minimum of 200 hotel rooms, 24 hour restaurant and a bar.
According to the current city code, non restricted gaming is a casino that contains at least 15 slot machines and table games.
